James Marvin Shearin, II (Marvin) and wife Audrey are owners of, Shearin Farms, LLC. Shearin Farms is based in Enfield, NC with the corporate office in Rocky Mount, NC. Shearin Farms grows Peanut and Tobacco commodities. It owns and leases farm land in Nash and Halifax counties. Shearin has been in the agricultural and farming business since 1977 and is fully active in the production of Peanuts and Tobacco commodities.
Shearin's wife Audrey is owner of Eastern Petroleum Corporation. The company markets and sales petroleum products including gasoline through its EP Mart Convenient stores located in the Raleigh, Enfield, Tarboro, Scotland Neck and Rocky Mount, N.C. markets. The company stores are branded Shell and Exxon. In addition the company proudly owns and operate a propane and fuel division serving Farmers, Loggers, Commercial, and home heating fuels to customers. The company currently employs 100 people and is proudly celebrating its 58th anniversary.
Marvin is a North Carolina licensed Real Estate Broker, a licensed Registered Housing Specialist, a licensed FAA pilot with a Commercial, Instrument and Multi- Engine Rating. He is a graduate of the North Carolina State University modern farming course in 1979 and a graduate of the American Cash Flow Institute. He is a member of the Automated Builder Consortium, North Carolina Manufactured Housing Institute, North Carolina Farm Bureau, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, National Rifle Association, National Federated Independent Business Association, North Carolina Turf Grass Association, North Carolina Cattlemen's Association and Tobacco Growers Association.
Marvin has served or previously served on the following boards: The Halifax County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Roanoke Valley Chamber Board, Roanoke Rapids Airport Advisory Board, Halifax Boys and Girls Club, Meals on Wheels Board, Halifax County Industrial Facility and Pollution Bonding Committee, Enfield Academy School Board of Directors, The Lakeland Theater Board, and the Comprehensive Development Plan Steering Committee (appointed by the Halifax County Commissioners.)
Shearin was awarded the 1999 Roanoke Valley Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
